Everyone, meet Mattie.

For the last several months, there has been a fifth member traveling with us. You’ve seen him on stage & in our social media posts, but we’ve yet to TRULY introduce him to you. So, here we go. World, meet Mattie Alvarado: For All Seasons new full time bass player. Mattie has been a friend of ours for quite some time and he brings such a freshness to our bands community. We wanted to take a few moments of your time and help you get to know him. We’re sure you’ll love him as much as we do :)

Q: Mattie, where are you from?

A: I grew up and still live in La Mirada, CA.

Q: How old are you and when is your birthday?

A:  I am 24, and my birthday is April 15. Tax Day!

Q: We know you play the bass, so how long have you been playing, and are there any other instruments you play?

A: I've been playing bass since I was 13 years old. I started learning guitar when I was 15 and I play some percussion.

Q: If you had to eat one meal for lunch for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: One of my favorite lunches is a pastrami sandwich on Rye. With fries on the side. Extra crispy.

Q: How many pets did you grow up with?

A: This is a long list. I've had a menagerie of parakeets and finches. I've had 4 bunnies,  2 basset hounds, 3 shih tzus, and 13 chickens.

Q: How did you know God was calling you into ministry?

A:  At a young age, I had a heart and passion of music. At first, I just wanted to play on the worship team. But, then the worship leader at my church saw that I had a talent for it and wanted me to get better at music, so he challenged me to know my parts really well (while playing bass). I think that me becoming better at music made me more passionate about it. Then, when I was a Senior in HS, there was a need for a worship leader. I saw that need, so I decided to step up and fill that need. From there, I felt the calling to pursue worship leading as a big part of my life. Outside affirmation and encouragement from others was a huge part in knowing that this was the path I was supposed to be on. When I graduated HS, I decided to take considerable steps towards full time worship ministry.

Q: Describe your ideal day look like?

A: It would begin with relaxing somewhere, either fishing or at the beach. Somewhere in the day, I would want to enjoy a meal with close family and friends. It would also love to explore a new city and eat some dirty, cheap, GOOD food with friends.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in the next year with For All Seasons?

A: Other than seeing a large part of the US that I've never been to before, I am excited to meet new people. This is such a cool opportunity to meet other believers who are passionate about Jesus and ministry, and see how they walk out their Christian faith differently than what I may be used to.

Q: Any last words for the people?

A: As christians, our lives should be all about the gospel. Don't be afraid to live passionately and boldly for Jesus.

Make sure you come say hi to Mattie the next time you see us. And, if you're feeling extra encouraging, leave a hello for him in a comment below!
